Job Description

Job Responsibilities (ទំនូលខុសត្រូវការងារ):

  • The consultant will:
  • Analyze the existing vegetable processing products:
  • What kinds of vegetables used in the processing? What are the target markets of these processed products?
  • What is the current situation of vegetable processing using SWOT analysis technique?
  • Conducting a high level profitability analysis for the top 5 vegetables
  • Who are the key actors involving in development of vegetable processing in Cambodia?
  • Collect data of vegetable processing from Phnom Penh and ZOI. This data will include but not limited to:
  • Materials and origins: what are the products being processed? What types, quantity, source, and price of vegetables being used?
  • Processing facility and capacity: identify processing capacities including equipment and estimate for any improvement and investment needed.
  • Technical know-how: identify existing technical standard? identify technical need and requirement? identify potential technical supporters (e.g: ITC, RUA)?
  • Marketing and branding: what are the markets for these processed products? Is there any improvement needed for the current branding and packaging?
  • Quality and safety: Is there any food safety knowledge and quality standards being applied? identify existing quality standards and necessary procedures if the processors want to apply for.
  • SWOT analysis: what are the strengths, weaknesses, and threats being faced by the processors? And help to draw the possible opportunities?
  • What are the potential environmental impacts caused by processing?
  • Consolidate and analyze the findings and making recommendations
  • Develop list of existing vegetable processors and recommended potential partners based on identification criteria.

Education and Requirments (កម្រិតវប្បធម៏ និងតម្រូវការ):

  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A master degree or higher in food and agro-processing, agronomy or horticulture, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in market research for the food/ agri-food industry
  • At least 5 years of experience working with Small and Medium Enterprises
  • Well-knowledge and experiences with market approach, agribusiness, and food processing in Cambodia
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Deliverables:
  • Plan and methodology of the work. The consultant will present the layout of proposed study plan including some key guiding questions for the survey and key interview informant (KII) to Harvest II.
  • Inception report and meeting with Harvest II.
  • PowerPoint summary of research findings.
  • Final report on the results and follow the outline agreed upon in the inception report.
